- By travelling on the cable car "Ngong Ping 360", it takes only 25 minutes to travel from MTR Tung Chung Station to Po Lin Monastery. It is the fastest and most convenient way to see the Big Buddha.
- Take the MTR Tung Chung Line to Tung Chung Station (Hong Kong Station to Tung Chung Station requires approximately 35 minutes), then take New Lantau Bus No. 23 to Ngong Ping (approximately 50 minutes)
- From Central Pier No. 6 (near Central's Star Ferry Pier or MTR's Hong Kong Station), catch a ferry to Lantau Island's Mui Wo (Fast Ferry takes 40 minutes, Normal Ferry takes 60 minutes). At Mui Wo, take New Lantau Bus No. 2 to Ngong Ping (approximately 50 minutes)

Po Lin Monastery is now a large and important temple. The Big Buddha statue dominates the area from a plinth reached by more than 260 steps. On a clear day, the view across the valleys, reservoirs and peaks of Lantau makes the climb worth while
There are some sights visitors should not miss.
- The Big Buddha standing at 22 meters high, the bronze statue is the largest seated Buddha in the world.
- Relic inside the Buddha display about the life of the Buddha and his path to enlightenment.
- In the west of the monastery, it has tea gardens and a cafe. The cafe sells tea leaves from bushes and makes a quiet and cool place to enjoy a tea and a cheap chinese meal.
- Vegetarian restaurants meal ticket are sold at the entrance to the Buddha Statue. The vegetarian food includes convincing mock meat dishes.
